Artservice - an independent arts and cultural consultancy partnership, offering a range of research, planning and management services to arts and cultural funding bodies, including Arts Councils at national and regional level, local authorities, arts and cultural organisations, and other public and private agencies.

Alan has developed organisational development plans for a wide range of cultural sector organisations, including City Arts, Nottingham, Nottingham City Council Arts in Education Centre, Neighbourhood Renewal Nottingham, New Perspectives Theatre Company, Firebird Trust, East Midlands Jazz and a continuing three year programme with Derbyshire Arts Development Group. He is Co-Director of Nusantara, a south east Asian performing arts company whose work has included being the first performers at the 2002 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, and performing at the 2005 Commonwealth Day celebrations. Alan is currently working with Tim on developing an Arts Strategy for Bolsover, and collaborated on International Horizons, research into international opportunities for employability of the Nottingham/Nottinghamshire creative sector.

Gillian is an experienced cultural consultant with a strong background in research and evaluation, communications, arts marketing and audience development. She is a trained focus group facilitator, an experienced trainer and has worked extensively in the voluntary arts sector. Gillian has carried out research and evaluation for the Arts Council England, East Midlands(including national Festivals research, 2004) local authorities (including Doncaster Metropolitan Council, Ryedale District Council) and many others, including Big Grin Cartoon Festival, Buxton Opera House, and Princes Trust EM. Together (as “Creative Associates”) they successfully delivered an Arts Strategy in 2005 for Ryedale District Council, a Feasibility Study and Fundraising Strategy for Skipton Auction Mart, N Yorkshire (2005), and research into cultural activities delivered by the faith sector, for EM Churches Forum, in 2006.

Sibyl Burgess has many years’ experience including as Visual Arts Officer with a Regional Arts Association.She introduced the first Craftsmen in Schools scheme in the country. For 15 years she was Director of the Firebird Trust, a developmental community music organisation in Lincolnshire, and a strategic arts organisation of Arts Council England. Areas of particular interest and expertise are the support of artists (including mentoring schemes and the evaluation of artists’ work), education, work within communities and the continuing professional development of artists and arts managers. She is a Youth Music assessor for English funding applications. Sibyl Burgess was awarded the MBE in 2005 for her contribution to arts development.

Sibyl collaborated on options for a Creative partnerships’ Associate schools scheme in 2006.

His clients include Newark & Sherwood District Council, Arts Council East Midlands, and Leicester Comedy festival. Norman Randall has nearly thirty years in organisational and management development. His experience covers both public and private sectors, including: Rolls-Royce plc, The Games Workshop, Carlton TV, Advantage West Midlands, Broxtowe College, Nottingham City Council and South Yorkshire Housing Association. He is an executive coach and a certified practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. He has a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute.

These two Humberside-based artists are Xceptional designs, who work to commissions, provide artist training and educational support, working with a range of Creative Partnerships. Alex, Pete and Tim have known each other for more years than they care to admit, and are currently working together for a major one-year CP project, funded by DCMS in NE Lincs, and on the North Hull Fire Festival, which they successfully launched in early 2007.
